Eve Ensler is a playwright, performer, feminist and activist. Born in New York, her childhood was unsettled and traumatic, providing the basis for literary inspiration. She is best known for the play ‘The Vagina Monologues’ that has been translated into 45 different languages and performed in 120 countries by celebrities such as Jane Fonda, Whoopi Goldberg and Oprah Winfrey. In 1996 it was awarded the Obie Award for ‘Best New Play’ and in 1999 Eve was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship Award in Playwriting.
Her recent works include ‘The Good Body’, ‘The Treatment’ and her only book, ‘Insecure At Last: Losing It In Our Security-Obsessed World’. She is also a prominent anti-violence activist, creating V-Day, a global movement to stop violence against women and girls raising over $60 million and educating millions about the issue of violence against women. She has been the recipient of countless awards in recognition of her efforts.
