The three nominees for the ITV’s Lorraine Inspirational Women of the Year Award were revealed on the show this week. Viewers can vote for the winner from today (Thursday 10 October). For more information on voting visit http://www.itv.com/lorraine/hottopics/vote-for-your-woman-of-the-year/

Lorraine viewers were asked to nominate the women in their lives who have inspired them and their community. From hundreds of incredible entries Lorraine Kelly, Baroness Helena Kennedy QC, President of the Women of the Year and Barbara Windsor have picked three exceptional women as nominees: Siobhan Bogues from Belfast, Marilyn Baldwin from Chesterfield, Derbyshire and Sandra Barber from Sunderland.

They appeared on ITV’s Lorraine’s sofa during the week of the 7 October and viewers will be able to vote for their winner from today (Thursday 10 October). Each nominee has made an amazing contribution to their community and helped change lives for the better.

  • Siobhan Bogues (52) was nominated by her brother Sean Caughey and has been recognised for her voluntary work across Northern Ireland. She is the founder and director of the Lighthouse Centre in Belfast, which is a healing hub where people from across Ireland can come to find nourishment for mind, body and soul. The centre is open to everybody and she runs a non-profit making café and a Timebank
  • Marilyn Baldwin was nominated by her husband, Peter Baldwin and caught the attention of the judges with the Think Jessica Anti-Scamming campaign. The charity helps the thousands of old and vulnerable people in the UK who are the potential victims of postal and telephone scams. It is named after her mum Jessica, who was a victim of scammers. This brilliant initiative has the support of local police and the community
  • Sandra Barber (51) was nominated by her husband, George Barber for setting up Spence Defence, a self-defence martial arts club. Originally called Fitness 2000, the name was changed to Spence Defence in memory of two young girls – Tatum Leah, 14, and Demi Jade Spence, 12 – who tragically died after an arson attack on their home. This fantastic, community orientated campaign has genuinely helped young people in the area, who have said that Sandra is an inspiration and makes them feel safe.

Lorraine Kelly says of the nominees: “All of the entries for the Lorraine Inspirational Woman of the Year award were incredible and it was difficult to narrow it down to just three finalists.

However, the three women we have chosen are truly wonderful and their stories were particularly moving and awe-inspiring. Siobhan, Marilyn and Sandra are a real inspiration and have made a huge difference in their communities. I wish them all the very best of luck!”

The three ITV’s Lorraine Inspirational Woman of the Year nominees will attend the Women of the Year Lunch on 14 October, joining 400 other incredible women from all walks of life, each selected for their personal contribution to society.

The winner of ITV’s Lorraine Inspirational Woman of the Year will be announced during the lunch and will appear on the programme the following day.

Lorraine is broadcast Monday-Friday, 8.30am – 9.25am on ITV following Daybreak.

Hosted by Lorraine Kelly, the show features a mix of entertainment, human interest stories, topical debates on the day’s news, and the best in lifestyle, food and fashion features.
