Vodafone Woman of Innovation Award was presented by Vicky McClure to Colleen Cheung-Ying Wong, founder of tech company Techsixtyfour. A mother of two, Colleen developed her first product in response to seeing another parent lose sight of their child on a day out, and the ‘My Gator Watch’ product now enables young children and parents to stay connected without needing young children to have a smartphone. Colleen is now adapting the popular device for the ageing/dementia markets, to have a positive impact on healthy ageing. The device for seniors – Silver Sircle – will be able to track location and detect falls, thereby enabling the elderly to maintain independence whilst ensuring safety and peace of mind for family and friends. Vicky McClure was especially thrilled to present this award due to her ongoing support of dementia charities and work to raise awareness around the issue.

Colleen Wong said,

“I am so honoured to receive the Vodafone Woman of Innovation Award. It has been a seven year rollercoaster ride with crazy unexpected twists and turns, such as Covid and Brexit, that have made me much more resilient but also made me question my own ability to fight these fights. I love what I do and work hard every day because I hear from my customers how the Gator watch has changed their lives. Being a successful entrepreneur is often determined by the investment the business receives or how big the company is or how big your bottom line is. Sometimes I think it is important to think beyond these usual measures of success and realise that when you have a product or service that helps others, this is also a success and something to be proud of. It is incredible to have my work recognised and to know that I have the support of so many amazing women who are doing amazing things.”

Miryem Salah, Head of Planning, Data & Transformation at Vodafone said,

“It was an absolute honour to spend the day celebrating so many inspirational women and present Colleen with the Vodafone Woman of Innovation Award. The positive impact that her company has had is far reaching and a true example of the positive impact that technology can have on society.”
