In the Winner’s Words:
“I am deeply honoured to receive the Environmental Pioneer Award from Women of the Year. This recognition is not only a reflection of my own journey, but of the countless women around the world who are working every day to protect nature, safeguard biodiversity and care for their communities. For many years, I have had the privilege of working alongside women from indigenous peoples and local communities whose knowledge, leadership and commitment have been vital to conservation efforts. Their voices and experiences continue to inspire and guide me. At a time when biodiversity loss presents one of the greatest challenges facing our planet, it is more important than ever that women are recognised as leaders and decision-makers in shaping sustainable solutions. I am proud to accept this award on behalf of all those who continue to champion a more inclusive and equitable future for people and nature.” — Mrinalini Rai, Founder & Director, Women4Biodiversity
