Sarah Harrison

Winner of the Trailblazer Award, Presented by Lorraine Kelly CBE

Sarah Harrison

Every year Women of the Year teams up with Lorraine Kelly to find exceptional women across the UK who are making inspiring changes within their communities and for their causes.

This year, the Lorraine award was given to a trailblazer. A woman who has gone above and beyond to change the status quo in her community, to shine a spotlight on important issues or been a champion of those who don’t have a voice. The special award is nominated and voted on by viewers of the Lorraine show on ITV and the winner of the award is announced at the lunch.

This year’s Trailblazer is a truly inspirational woman whose strength, compassion and vision have touched countless lives across the Northeast.

In 2019, Sarah Harrison was diagnosed with secondary incurable breast cancer. Despite facing this devastating news, Sarah didn’t want palliative care to mean her life was over and with a fear of feeling useless she decided to set up Sarah’s Star – a charity dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by incurable and life-limiting illnesses.
