Women of the Year is saddened to hear of the passing of the architect Dame Zaha Hadid on Thursday 31 March at the age of 65.
Dame Zaha was recognised with a Women of the Year Outstanding Achievement Award in 2010, in recognition for her spirit, perseverance in a male-dominated society and for gracing the world with her extraordinary designs. She was also a recipient of the prestigious architectural Stirling and Pritzker awards.
Many of the British public would know Dame Zaha’s work from her design of the London Olympics Aquatic Centre and the Riverside Museum in Glasgow. Her distinct, neo-futuristic buildings have inspired wonder across the globe, with her incredible work seen in Germany, France, China, USA, Italy and Azerbaijan.
Our thoughts are with Dame Zaha’s family and friends.
