Thomasina Miers OBE – A Summer Recipe
25th June 2025 by Vix Brenninkmeijer
I’ve always found the Women of the Year Lunch & Awards to be one of the most uplifting and inspiring events in my calendar. It’s a rare and precious thing to gather with such a broad spectrum of women – trailblazers, creatives, community champions – all in one room, celebrating each other’s stories and successes. I love how the organisation, since its founding in 1955, has championed women from every walk of life. Some moments have stayed with me long after the lunch has ended – like the awarding of the Women of Courage honour to Yulia Navalnaya, a powerful reminder of bravery in the face of oppression; or hearing Tracey Emin speak so movingly about her work supporting the arts community in Margate. Tanya Ednan-Laperouse’s tireless campaigning to make life safer for people living with allergies was another standout – deeply personal, and so impactful. I also loved the recent networking event in collaboration with The 93% Club – it was buzzing with energy and ambition, and a clear sign of how the organisation continues to grow and evolve.
To celebrate the season, here’s one of my favourite summer dishes: Tomato, melon and cucumber salad with a sesame dressing. It’s vibrant, fresh, and best enjoyed with a glass of rosé in the garden – ideally with brilliant company and wide-ranging conversation.
Best wishes, Tommi x
